Introduction:

AGMARK is a certification mark for agricultural produce, assuring that they conform to a grade standard notified by Directorate of Marketing & Inspection (DMI), Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under Agricultural Produce (Grading Marking) Act, 1937.These standards differentiate between quality and 2-3 grades are prescribed for each commodity. Till date, grade standards for 222 agricultural commodities have been notified. These include fruits, Vegetables, cereals, pulses, oilseeds, vegetable oils, ghee, spices, honey, creamery butter, wheat, atta, besan, etc.

Agricultural products are sold in massive volumes, especially for human consumption. Therefore, quality assurance plays a vital role in these products. Agmark is one such mark that is certified by the Government of India for all agricultural products ensuring consumers of both, their quality and their standard.

Why this License is Required?

For Blended Edible Vegetable Oils and Fat Spread certification under AGMARK is mandatory as per provisions in The Food Safety and Standards Act and regulations, 2006. European Commission has approved the procedure of pre-shipment inspection under Agmark for exports of fruits and vegetables to EU countries.

Procedure of Agmark Registration:

  • The person/ company may either access the website https://dmi.gov.in or visit the nearest office of the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) in order to get the required application form.
  • While signing in , you need to provide your email ID, Aadhaar number, address, mobile number, and a photo ID. The system will generate a primary and a secondary user ID and password for you.
  • An applicant may sign up and register as Primary/Corporate user and create a primary user id by clicking at relevant icon at Home page.
  • An applicant may click on Certificate of Authorisation to apply for Agmark certification on specified commodities for his/her manufacturing / packing premises
  • If you want to apply for the permission to print the previously certified Agmark grading copy, you should click on the ‘Certificate of printing permission’ tab
  • If you want to apply for the laboratory approval to grade the products under Agmark for domestic trade, you should click on the ‘Certificate of approval of laboratory’ tab
  • Next, you should use your secondary user ID and password and log in to the system
  • Access the online application form (Form A) and fill in the details regarding your proposed unit. Click ‘next’ to proceed
  • On the resultant page, you will be asked to furnish the necessary documents in PDF format. To know about the documentation criteria of the Agmark registration procedure, please refer to the section above
  • Next, you will be directed to submit the necessary Agmark registration fees. The Agmark registration fees will vary according to the commodity for which the application is filed.
  • Click ‘submit’
  • After you submit the registration form along with the documents and necessary Agmark registration fees, the authorities will verify your credentials.
  • On being satisfied, they will approve your commodity for issuing the Agmark grade.

Documents required for Agmark registration:

  • The registration certificate of the firm/company or any other document that authenticates the establishment of it.
  • Name and contact details of the business
  • Address proof of the business address where the certification would be carried out
  • Partnership deed, if it’s a partnership firm.
  • Memorandum of Association (MoA), for a limited company.
  • List of the commodities/items to be graded.
  • Document showing the duration in business for the applicant
  • A test report copy, duly authenticated by an independent laboratory, recognized by Agmark
  • Samples of the product to be registered (in pouches of 1 kg or 500 gram)
  • Total gross production (in Kgs) of the item in the last year
  • Details of company turnover during the last financial year.
